神話などの物語(カタ)を語ることから始まった北インド古典舞踊 「カタック」は、複雑なリズムを足で刻むステップ、高速の旋回、 そして優美なパントマイムが特徴の、華やかな宮廷舞踊として発展しました。足にたくさんの鈴をつけ、ステップを踏むたび鈴の音が心地よく響きます。
高い芸術性、エンターテインメント性を持ち、ソロ・デュエット・グループ・コンテンポラリーなど様々な形式で踊られている、 今なお進化を続けている古典舞踊です。
何世紀にもわたって進化してきた、豊かでエレガントでエキサイティングな芸術形態の世界。優雅なジェスチャー、リズミカルなフットワーク、物語を語る所作をお楽しみください。
KATHAK is one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance. Traditionally the travelling bards of ancient northern India known as Kathakars ( storytellers) are wanderers communicating stories from the great epics and ancient mythology through dance, songs and music. Kathak dancers tell various stories through their hand movements and footwork, but most importantly through their facial expressions.
Enjoy this a rich, elegant and exciting art form that has evolved over centuries.
Deepak Maharaj son of Pandit Birju Maharaj is from 8th generation of the Kalka Bindadin's Lucknow gharana. He is blessed with a pleasant stage presence and a melodious voice. He knows the tricks of the trade and is a professional performer.
