SOHGA-AN offers traditional tea ceremony in the district of Hanabata-cho, positioned right in front of Kumamoto Castle. For a casual and enjoyable tea gathering during the hot month of July, incorporating the concept of creating a cool atmosphere as described in Sen no Rikyu's words, "How to make summer appear truly cool..." is essential. Here are some ideas for making the season more pleasant through tea ceremony adaptations, such as using a basket vase or flat tea bowl. Throughout the event, ensure the tea room is adorned with decorations that evoke a sense of coolness and tranquility. The goal is to create an immersive experience where participants can escape the heat and embrace the serenity of the tea ceremony in a casual and welcoming environment.

Lecture on the "tokonoma" in the tea room
Basic etiquette for guests
Tea ceremony demonstration by the Host who speaks English
Enjoying usucha (thin tea) and seasonal wagashi (sweets)

*Children under 10 cannot enter the tea ceremony venue.
