The formal tea gatherings, Chaji, are intimate, private gatherings where a small number of invited guests are served a full-course tea ceremony which includes serving meal, thick tea, and thin tea.  Chaji is the culmination of regular tea lessons and can be considered the ultimate practical form of the Way of Tea.

This gathering involves sharing both time and space.  It goes beyond merely being together for a while, but there is a sense of coexistence with the people gathered in the tea room.  This state is referred to as "ichiza konryu," meaning that both the host and guests collaborate together to make the gathering feel warm and embracing for everyone present.

A formal tea gathering typically takes 3-4 hours, but it can be experienced in a simplified form.

We have designed this event specifically for those who have no prior experience with tea ceremony.  We eagerly await your presence.
